When I told my parents I was starting to make jewellery my dad immediately
started on one of his tirades about how I should go out and find rocks and
tumble them and sell them as "Australian *whatever* stone from *whatever
place I found it*" I don't think he realised that the type of rock could
probably be found anywhere and to do that is WAY out of my price range at
the moment.

He did however also suggest honky nut (gumnut) jewellery, which always good
seller to the overseas market.

On a birdwalk on Sunday I grabbed a handfull of nice round nuts from an
Ironbark.

So what I'm asking. What do you think would be good to seal these with
(would they need sealing at all?) and what kind of pendant mounts should I
use? They are pretty round so a cone shaped mount wouldn't work. A large
Marri nut would require something even shallower.

I hope that made sense!

This was great, because I've never heard of ANY of this stuff before.

yeah it took me a while to think of the better known name (gumnuts).

We've always called them honky nuts here, no idea why.

I am now officially Laughing My Ass Off. There is NOT something called
"Honky Nuts", is there? Nooooooo, you had to have made that up... tell
me you made that up...

Oh, I LOVE small colloquial differences...
