I just wanted to share an awesome site of an artist whose work I have traded
beads for. I saw her encaustics and went wild because the colors just speak
to me.

Wow! Is that our Lori Greenberg who also owns some of her work?

She has an armadillo painting too. It reminded me of you and Manda.

Wow, she is so talented. But look at this page:

http://www.charissathomas.com/28803.html

About 3/4 of the way down, there's a drawing called "Innocence."
Amanda looked exactly like that when she was around five. She even
wore a bucket hat like that all the time. And that's the exact same
shade as her eyes - the kid lucked out. Bob and I are brown eyed,
but we each have blue eyed fathers. Genetics paid that kid a favor.

I love everything on her site. Yes she is very talented. She is so giddy
about getting the beads and I'm equally giddy getting the encaustics. What
a hoot.

That's an awesome drawing. Manda is a cutie and so is that little girl in
the drawing. Do you have a photo of Manda at that age?

A photo? hahahahaha! It's amazing that child doesn't have bunt
corneas from all the pictures we took of her. I'll see what I can
get online - that drawing looks so much like the Manda pictures we
took at Disney that year.

Okay, call me stupid. What is a "encaustic"? Whatever it is, is really cool
looking!

Melted wax. You do it with a small iron, and layer the wax on to make
the pictures. Became popular again briefly in the rubberstamping set, I
bought some and figured it was one more thing I would never have the
patience to get good at, so traded my supplies for something else..
don't even remember what now, how pathetic is that? :-)

And, in connection with the rubberstamping set, I do it with the new metallic
and pearlized crayola crayons. Verra, verra cool!!!

I'm sorry -- well, no I'm not -- I don't like her work. I think it's flat --
none of it has any dimension. Mediocre.

No flames; I'm entitled to my opinion. I'm really surprised it sells.

Hmm - not all of it is "flat" - -but I have to agree with you on this one
Sooz... not my cup of tea... LOL

I suspect a lot of people are just attracted to the colors...
but I'm afraid that something more along the lines of a Georgia O'Keefe would
win out with me... <G>
plain abstract has Never been my thing...

Did you check the "drawings" link?

http://www.charissathomas.com/28803.html

now - there were SEVERAL there that
appealed to me -- her White Flower is very much O'Keefe ... and I love the
sold Flamingo (ok - I have a thing about flamingoes... LOL)
and Potcicle Toes - cracks me up....

I don't like her other charcoal drawings that much - again - "flat" would be
very descriptive...
but who am I to talk - I can't draw worth a damn... LOL
