I've been beading up a storm. I have too many beads, but eBay still
tempts me.

About a month ago I heard something on the radio about how dopamine
makes Alzheimer patients more susceptible to gambling addiction.
Since I have Depression which also involves lack of pleasant brain
chemicals, it made me wonder whether that makes me more susceptible to
trying to win eBay auctions. Seriously.

So I've been working more with the beads I have. Which 1) keeps me
busy, 2) focuses me on what I have instead of what else is pretty, 3)
saves me money, 4) helps me cut down on clutter.

I've made at least 50 necklaces. Though I haven't photographed them
yet.

I started with red. By organizing by color, I see combinations I
might want to use on my next projects too. Then I went to peach and
pink, and on to purple. Of course, most of my beads are blue and
green. The reds I need more parts for, go back into the drawer. The
reds I'm not going to use go to my teacher friend in the village, or
my granddaughter, or a drawer of items to sell.

I started with red because I love red, and it always sells.
Unfortunately, it's rather hard to find in artisan beads.

I also started with things I just wanted to whip out. Not spend a lot
of time or precious metal on.

OMG, It's snowing again outside. And it was down to Zero last
night. This is getting/staying old!

My next step is going to be to put up some things on eBay. I'll start
with low end things, and have set up an account under my husband's
name. That way I'll keep the other account for higher prices and
higher expectations. I know there are sellers I'm unlikely to go back
to because I have gotten wonky beads from them, etc.

Oh wow! 50 necklaces, that is some going.
Can you waft a bit of your get up and go over to me.
Use the wand to waft it over.
I wish you good sales.

I've been away from the computer for a couple weeks. The connection
thing said I was connected but I couldn't get internet access. I
spend most of a week, rebooting, restoring programs to a previous
date, etc. and then finally called the phone company. They told me
that the connection status function didn't mean I was connected, just
that I the computer was connected to the modem. But my modem no
longer functioned. (If it was too old, I figure they should have
notified me instead of having it go out on me. They certainly have me
on computer for billing!). So we went into town and picked up the new
modem, and followed instructions to start it up. Next day I called
and they walked me through it. Then I called and talked to the
techie supervisor. Several more days later they sent someone out to
check the modem. And they replaced the defective new modem. But the
line had something wrong with it. I don't know why it's those of us
who are technically challenged who end up with the defective
equipment, instead of those who know that they did things right so it
must be the hardware. Or why after that we are the ones who have the
lines working incorrectly or plugged in incorrectly in some central
ethereal place. And then last night my google password wouldn't work
and I had to get a new one today.

It's funny you should mention get up and go. I've been sitting on the
couch with my beads around me on the couch and two tables, and sweet
Pete has been doing most of the housework. I got a new table the
other day, some sort of office equipment on wheels. We have no
garbage pick up this far out of town, and the dump or "transfer site"
has a covered platform for people to bring their re-cycleables. I
picked up this little metal table that I can hammer on, with a few
shelves marked "legal size" and "letter size" that are perfect for my
trays of silver. It's on wheels, so I can pick up the beads that fall
under it, and just the right height to bead at or eat soup from when I
sit on the couch.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having a hard time. Is it the flu
you've got or is your heart acting up? (Though I know flu affects
your heart too). Take care, dear.

Nah, that's not it. We get that too. I leave the trouble shooting to
Norman.
I trouble shoot computer stuff at work, I don't want to do it at home,
and it's his computer that has the cable modem (lucky us) plugged into
it
and I'm not touching his computer anymore than he will even look
inside
my backpack (purse. It's a backpack. But he considers it my purse, and
in a way so do I) - or my laptop for that matter, for all I know, but
then, I don't particularly care, I got nothing to hide.

This s**t happens. It is hardware and it breaks by itself. And then
there's
a lot of software involved that we have absolutely no control over. I
have
no idea how I'm connected to google (as soon as it goes outside our
house), and I don't particularly care. But I do know that as soon as
any
piece of equipment breaks somewhere they'll at least have to re-route
connections, and if (in our case) the power goes out on Oahu we're
disconnected. We may still have power, TV, phone, but our internet
connection is most likely shot. This did happen after the last
6.something
earthquake we had here. It was much closer to us than to Oahu,
but almost all of Oahu lost power and we didn't.

Some of these things just happen that way, much as I don't
like coincidences either.

Aloha,
Maren
